Yorketown Telecentre 2003 - April

"Thank You" to the Yorketown Telecentre and it's Coordinator Andrew Cheel  and Volunteers Margaret Cheel and  Colin Mason
for hosting our meeting this month and especially to Peter Hancock for arranging it.

It was great to catch up with some of the locals who came along to talk with us.

Those present at the Yorktown Telecentre meeting April 1st 2003
(Back Row - standing) Andrew Cheel (Telecentre Coordinator ), Margaret Cheel, Rick Boston, Bill Carey,
Peter Hancock, Peter Herriman, Luke Herriman, Bob Lesiw
(Front Row) Jack Collison, Colin Mason, Toby Herriman, Jenny Herriman

We were lucky enough to have the Telecentre Coordinator, Andrew Cheel and Volunteer Colin Mason show us what the Telecentre is doing. Some of the items were photo restoration and enhancement and recording of old records on to CD. They were quite proud of the new Colour Photocopier and we all agreed that the enlargements produced by it were exceptional. The Telecentre has some new services such as ServiceSA. We talked about what they were doing with the Web Portal, and Luke showed those present his web site, while Colin searched for the source of some email which was causing problems for Rick. Some discussed the latest in Motherboards, processors and sound equipment. We even talked about 'Home Schooling' as that is what Luke and Toby do.
We can definitely say that Yorketown is very proud of their Telecentre and the work they are doing there, and deservedly so.

Two families stayed in Yorketown overnight and visited friends in the district later, so we learnt a bit more about Yorketown and it's surrounds.

We hope to do this trip again next year. THANKS YORKETOWN!
